Acceptable use policy
Version: 1.1 · Effective: 7 October 2026
This policy is part of the Customer Terms and the User Terms. It applies to everyone who uses Roughneck. "You" means the shop and each of its users.
1. Outreach: calls, texts and emails
Roughneck never places a call or sends a message for you. It opens your own phone, messaging or email app with a draft, and you decide what is sent. You are the caller or sender, and these rules are yours to follow. Business-to-business outreach is not exempt from most of them.
Texts
- Do not text a mobile number unless the person has given the consent the law requires. Under the federal TCPA, a text to any mobile number can need prior consent, whether the recipient is a consumer or a purchasing manager.
- Numbers on state filings are often personal cells.
- Include how to opt out in marketing texts.
- Before texting anyone in Texas for marketing, confirm with counsel whether you must register as a telephone solicitor (Texas SB 140, effective 1 Sep 2025).
Calls
- Call only between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. in the recipient's time zone for calls into Oklahoma, and between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. elsewhere, unless the recipient has asked you to call at another time.
- Do not use an automated dialer, a prerecorded voice or an artificial voice.
- For calls into Oklahoma, do not attempt the same person more than 3 times in 24 hours on the same subject, across all channels.
Stopping
- When anyone asks you to stop, by any reasonable means, stop contacting them on every channel.
- Honor the request immediately, and never later than 10 business days.
- Record it in Roughneck (for example as a note or a parked account) so nobody on your team contacts them again.
Do-not-call lists
- Where a do-not-call rule applies to your outreach (for example the Texas no-call list), check numbers against it before calling.
Marketing emails (CAN-SPAM)
- Use accurate sender details and honest subject lines.
- Include your shop's valid postal address and a working way to opt out.
- Honor opt-outs within 10 business days.
Honesty
- Do not misrepresent who you are, who you work for, or why you are calling.
2. People's information
- Only record what you may. Record personal details (for example a mobile number, personal email or birthday) only if you have a business reason and are allowed to.
- Nothing sensitive. Do not put Social Security or other government ID numbers, bank or card numbers, passwords, health information or information about children into Roughneck.
- Filings. Use names and numbers from public filings only to contact the company about business.
3. Documents and signatures
- Sign only as yourself. Do not sign for anyone else, or let a document be signed in someone else's name.
- No false documents. Do not use Roughneck to create or send a false, misleading or forged document.
- Signed means final. Do not alter a document after it has been signed. Make a new revision instead.
- Get authority. Obtain any authority and consent your customer needs to sign electronically.
4. Gifts
The gift log is there to help you stay within your customers' gift policies and the law. Do not use Roughneck to plan, conceal or record a bribe, kickback or any gift your customer's policy or the law forbids.
5. The service itself
Do not:
- share a seat, let someone use your sign-in, or use more than two devices on a seat;
- copy, resell, publish in bulk, or build a competing product or database from Roughneck or the public-record data it shows;
- scrape Roughneck, or access it by automated means except through an interface we provide for that purpose;
- try to get around a limit, a paid feature, a state you have not bought, or a security control;
- probe, scan or test Roughneck's security without our written permission (report a vulnerability to
connect@roughneckcrm.comand we will work with you); - interfere with Roughneck or other customers, or upload malware;
- reverse engineer Roughneck, except where the law allows it despite this term; or
- use Roughneck to break any law, infringe anyone's rights, or harass, threaten or defame anyone.
6. What we do about a breach of this policy
We may remove content, suspend a seat or the shop's account, or end the agreement, as the Customer Terms describe. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.
Report a breach of this policy to connect@roughneckcrm.com.
